ALLENSTOWN – Veronique A. Desmarais, 99, of Allenstown passed away at Concord Hospital on Sunday, August 1, 2021.
Born on December 5, 1921 in Pembroke, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Claudia Desmarais.
Veronique attended Our Lady of the Angels High School in Montreal and later earned her Business and Accounting degree from Hesser College. She worked for many years in Public Relations and Advertising at the Suncook Bank until her retirement in 1982.
She enjoyed her many trips abroad, bus journeys and the road trips across the country and to Canada with her sister, Barbara and brother-in-law Edgar. She was a communicant and generous supporter of St. John the Baptist Church in Allenstown as well as a lifetime member of both the Ladies of Ste. Anne and St. Therese Rosebush Society.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings, George Desmarais, Hertel B. Desmarais and Barbara R. Lavoie; and her nephew, Paul Lavoie.
She is survived by her nephews, Bernard Desmarais and his wife Cathy of Dunmore, PA, Maurice Lavoie and his wife Jeanine of Pembroke and Pierre “Pete” Lavoie and his wife Carolyn of Dover; a niece, Monique Pepin; and numerous great nieces and nephews as well as her best friends, Rita St. Germain, Barbara Donovan and Stella Bergevin whom she cherished. She was a lovely lady and will truly be missed.
At her request, there are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at 9 A.M. in St. John the Baptist Church, Allenstown. Interment will follow at St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Allenstown. The Petit-Roan Funeral Home in Pembroke is assisting the family with arrangements.
