PITTSFIELD – Matthew D. “Matty” Garrett, 16, of Pittsfield passed away on Friday, November 20, 2020 after a noble and valiant fight.

Born on July 17, 2004 in Newburyport, MA; he was the beloved son of Scott and Jennifer (Call) Garrett.

Matty was a recent graduate of Pittsfield High School where he received the Courage in Education Award. He will be remembered for his bright smile, sense of humor and honesty. He had a love for science, Marvel and DC Comics, Fortnight and animals of all shapes and sizes.

Besides his parents, he is survived by his siblings, Scott Garrett, III, Lewis Driscoll, Brenna Driscoll, Cayden Garrett and Zoe Bruton, aunts and uncles, Buddy Wenners, Dalton Garrett, Josh Garrett, Lisa Lorusso, Katelynn Call and Andrew Hannon, maternal and paternal grandparents, numerous cousins and friends, two dogs, two cats, three lizards and a rabbit.

Following Matty’s love for science and animals, he has asked to have his cremains be a part of the Eternal Reef program, his cremains will go down in a cement made reef to help protect and preserve marine life for generations to come. A Celebration of his life will be held at a later date. The Still Oaks Funeral & Memorial Home in Epsom is assisting with arrangements.
