Jean Lemay Obituary

Jean M.”Moe” Lemay, Sr. 81, longtime resident of Pembroke passed away peacefully on Friday, January 15, 2021 surrounded by family following a period of declining health.
 

Born on May 15, 1939 in Pembroke, he was the son of the late Phillip and Hazel (Durant) Lemay.
 

Before retirement Jean worked in multiple fields, driver for head start and meals on wheels, painter, paving laborer and settled into building maintenance for several companies including NH College, Varney Street Apartments, East Point Properties and Allgeyer Management. Jean loved to spend free time with his family, especially the years spent camping at Lake Massasecum. He enjoyed fishing and sharing stories around the campfire. Trips on the motorcycle to Niagara Falls and Nashville were some of his greatest adventures. In his younger years, he found winter enjoyment in snowmobiling with family and friends from the Plauswwa Valle Sno-Putters Snowmobile Club. After retirement, Jean and his wife enjoyed several years wintering in Inverness Florida where they enjoyed going to country jams and meeting new people.
 

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Irene (Arsenault) Lemay who passed in 2015 after sharing 52 years of marriage, siblings, Henry Lemay, Laurette Kennard and Eugene Lemay.
 

He is survived by his children, Cheryl Proulx and her husband Marcel of Manchester, Timothy Lemay of Burlington, VT, Jeannie Woolf and her husband John of Ossipee and Jean M. Lemay, Jr. and his wife Joe Ann of Weare, sister, Muriel Auberton of Bedford, five grandchildren, Michael, David, Bryant, Natalie and Brad, eight great grandchildren, Xavier, Logan, James, Sophia, Jack, Kyliegh-May, Trip and Grey as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
 

There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 11:00am at St. John the Baptist Church, Allenstown. Interment will follow at St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Allenstown. In accordance with state and local guidelines all attendees must wear face coverings and adhere to social distancing as directed.
