Hope Mannion Obituary

PITTSFIELD- Hope Renee Mannion, age 65, a longtime resident of Pittsfield, NH passed away at Concord Hospital on January 6, 2022, due to health complications. Hope had been admitted to the hospital initially for a Covid infection at the end of November. Although she had odds stacked against her throughout the month of December, both her faith and her family advocating for her is what helped her hold on for as long as she could. Not only was she fighting the chronic effects of damaged lung tissues from Covid and a compromised immune system, but also later developed both pneumonia and a rare fungal infection called Aspergillosis, which ultimately led to her respiratory health failing suddenly and rapidly on her final day earthside with us.

Hope was born on June 29th, 1956, in Hammond, Indiana and was predeceased by both her parents, 4 brothers and 1 sister, leaving behind 2 other sisters and several nieces and nephews. Hope and her husband Dennis Mannion were married for 34 years, before she was widowed in 2014 when Dennis passed away from a string of years battling cancer. Hope and Dennis had 2 children together: Lucas and Shyla. Unfortunately, Lucas passed away in 2016, due to complications from a traumatic brain injury caused from a car accident in 2005.  Hope leaves behind her daughter Shyla Turcios-Mannion (Nelson) and her beloved grandpup Tito Bandito. Hope also leaves behind her stepdaughter Amy Hanvey (Ross Jr), and 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Hope loved her job and was a dedicated employee for 30+ years, at Materials Research Furnaces (MRF) in Allenstown, NH. Hope was a very valuable employee, and everyone counted on her for her vast knowledge and for her incredible memory. She also took pride in the relationships she had built with some of her co-workers, whom she considered extended family.

Hope enjoyed singing karaoke with her closest friends and belting out some of her favorite songs. Her humor was one of a kind, she always spoke her mind no matter what, and she was a spit fire through and through. Hope was also a loyal soccer mom with the longest standing (unofficial) streak of attending every single one of her daughter Shyla’s soccer games from elementary through high school. All but one, that is. Hope and Dennis were also known as devoted parents to her late son Lucas, who lived at Crotched Mountain Rehab and Rose Meadow, both long-term care facilities in NH. They would visit every week from 2005 to 2016 until Luke passed away, and Hope will be remembered as constantly stroking Luke’s hair, dancing and singing with him, playing Luke’s favorite songs, just to see him smile and keep him comfortable.

Calling Hours will be held on Sunday January 16th from 1 to 3 P.M. EST at Still Oaks Funeral Home, 1217 Suncook Valley Highway in Epsom, NH for those who would like to attend. There also will be a live stream of Hope’s visitation on the Still Oaks’ website as well, for those who are unable to physically attend.  Hope’s Tribucast can be viewed by visiting https://client.tribucast.com/tcid/6508081466.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to any one of the 3 residential Rose Meadow Assisted Living Facilities in New Boston, NH, in Hope’s name.  To share a memory or offer a condolence, please visit www.stilloaks.com
