Charles Richard Wilox, Sr., 94 of Epsom, NH, passed away peacefully at home on May 3, 2022, from natural causes.
Born on January 17, 1928, in Boston, MA, Charlie was raised by his mother Sarah Jane Williams, a professional photographer who conveyed a lifelong love of photography to her son. Charlie left home at the age of 18 to join the United States Army, where he served overseas during World War II.
After leaving the Army, Charlie made his home in New Hampshire. He worked for the Concord Fire Department and then transferred to the New Hampshire State Police, where he worked in their communications department before eventually retiring to Florida. While in Florida, he worked security at Disney World for a number of years. Charlie eventually moved back to New Hampshire to be closer to his large family, spending his remaining retirement years as an active amateur photographer and a member of the American Legion Post #112.
Charlie was predeceased by his mother, and is survived by his wife of 47 years, Marion Wilox and their son Charles (Ricki) Richard Wilox, Jr. Charlie is also survived by his daughter Jacalyn Varney (husband David Varney) and his stepchildren: Roger Douillette, Jr. (wife Virginia Douillette), Bonnie Scovil (husband Donald Scovil), James Douillette, Timothy Douillette (wife Linda Douillette), and Deborah Griggs (husband Robert Griggs, Jr.). Additionally, Charlie is survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen on Friday, May 13 starting promptly at 11:30 am. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a veteran organization such as the Wounded Warriors Project.
