Mary M. (Murray) Grimes

PEMBROKE- Mrs. Mary M. (Murray) Grimes, 89, of Pembroke, passed away on September 22, 2018 in Concord Hospital after a period of declining health.

Born in Concord, Mary was the daughter of the late Reuben and Helen (Merrick) Murray.  She was raised and educated in Concord, was a member of the 4-H in East Concord as a child, and was a graduate of Concord High School Class of 1947.

In earlier years, Mary was employed as a telephone operator with the Concord phone company until her marriage to Stanley.  She later worked on her husband’s farm.  She was a member of the Buck Street Fidelity Club and the Mt. Plausawa Women’s Extension Group.

She was predeceased by her husband, Stanley F. Grimes, Sr.; her son-in-law, L. Clevis Croteau and her siblings: Peg, Miriam and Jackie.

She is survived by her two children: Lois Croteau of Marlborough and Stanley F. Grimes, Jr. (Lee) and his wife Ann of Pembroke.  She was the grandmother to Heather and Ariel Despres and Mary Bechard.  She was the great grandmother to Madison, Avery and Benjamin.  She was the sister to Ethel Acton, Helen (Teet) Ross and William Murray.  She also leaves her close family friend, Norma (Chase) Neary.
