Clyde Garrigan Obituary

Clyde Richard Wendell Garrigan, of Concord, NH passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2024. He was born on June 3, 1953 in Brooklyn, NY to Patrick and Barbara Garrigan. He was raised in Valley Stream, NY and graduated from Valley Stream South High School in 1971. Clyde attended Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH graduating in 1975. Following college, Clyde went on to the Boston University School of Law, graduating in 1978.

Clyde began his career as a prosecutor at the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office in Boston, MA. He continued his career at the Berkshire County District Attorney’s Office and the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office before spending 20 years as an Assistant U.S. Attorney at the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of New Hampshire.

Clyde married his wife, Kay St. Thomas Garrigan, in 1983. Clyde and Kay moved to Concord, NH in 1986, where they put down roots and raised their two sons, Charles and John, and later enjoyed many visits from their grandchildren.

Clyde was a deeply involved member of the Concord area community. He was long-time leader in the Cub Scout Pack 81 and Boy Scout Troop 81, coached Concord Little League, was a moderator for Ward 3 in Concord, tutored immigrant students at Second Start preparing for their citizenship exams, and routinely volunteered as a bell-ringer for the Salvation Army. In addition, he was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution and the New Hampshire Historical Society.

Clyde was an avid golfer and a member at the Beaver Meadow Golf Course and then the Concord Country Club.

In addition to his wife, Kay, Clyde is survived by his son, Charles Garrigan, and his wife, Jacqueleen, of Blue Bell, PA; his son, John Garrigan, and his wife, Alyssa, of Derry, NH, and their two children, Graham and Elizabeth; his brother, Donald Garrigan, of Torrington, CT, and his sisters, Elizabeth Marks of Barrington, RI and Barbara Harris of Lakeland, FL.

Calling hours will be Sunday, May 5th from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at the East Congregational Church in Concord, NH. A service will be held at the East Congregational Church at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 6th,, with a reception to follow at the Concord Country Club. The service will also be streamed online for those who cannot attend in person (a link can be found on the East Congregational Church website: www.eastchurchucc.org.)

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Clyde’s memory to the East Congregational Church in Concord, NH, or to Save the Children, both organizations close to Clyde’s heart.
