Regis Lemaire Obituary

Regis Lemaire, 82 of Watertown, MA, formerly of Suncook, passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at Mt. Auburn Hospital in Cambridge,MA.

Born on December 15, 1935 in Manchester, he was the son of the late J. Arthur and Solange (Fremeau) Lemaire.

Regis was a graduate of Pembroke Academy and went on to St. Anselm College then to Hunter College of the City University of NY where he received his
master's degree in social work. Mr. Lemaire went on to work at the Grosvenor Neighborhood House in NYC, working mainly with youth. He moved with his wife
Ingrid to Suncook after their marriage. He worked for many years for the City of Manchester as a social worker and later as the Director of Youth Services. He
was the recipient of numerous social service Awards-including the James B. Sullivan Human Leadership Award and the 2009 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Award.

He enjoyed watching sports of all kinds as well writing and playing with his grandson.

Besides his parents, Regis was predeceased by a son, Alexander Lemaire in 1978, brothers, John Lemaire, Andre “Red” Lemaire, sister, Maureen Demers, and brother-in-law, Emile Lemay.

He is survived by his wife Ingrid (Schindler) Lemaire, with whom he shared 49 years of marriage; daughter, Adriana Lemaire of Watertown, MA, siblings, Colette Lemay of Dunellen, NJ,
Jean-Marie Peterson and her husband Henry of Littleton, sister-in-law, Priscilla Lemaire of Allenstown, brother-in-law, Gerald Demers of Ohio and grandson, Kingston Omolade.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 15th from 9:00am to 11:00am at the Petit-Roan Funeral Home, 167 Main St, Pembroke, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held
at St. John the Baptist Church, Allenstown at 11:30am. Interment will take place in the spring. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to Concord, New Hampshire Corps Community Center, 58 Clinton Street, Concord, NH 03301 or to the Boys and Girls of Central New Hampshire, 55 Bradley Street, Concord, NH 03301.  To share a memory or offer a condolence, please visit www.petitroan.com
