Anders J. Doore

PEMBROKE – Anders Jackman Doore, died April 26th at Presidential Oaks in Concord, New Hampshire.

He was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 15, 1934 to the late Lawrence Jackman and Margaret Anderson Doore. He grew up on Paris Hill in Maine. He graduated from Tilton School and New England College and was an honorary member of the Paris, Maine Class of 1953. He enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and served in West Germany in the 709th MP Battalion.

He began his professional career with Sears Roebuck in Hartford, Connecticut where he met and married his wife of 55 years, Roberta Washburn Doore. Later he managed a Sear Roebuck Catalog/retail store in Kittanning, Pennsylvania. His final move with Sears Roebuck was to Brooklyn, New York where he was Personnel Director. In 1966 he moved his family to Pembroke, NH to join the Sprague Electric Company. After a short transfer to the Grafton, Wisconsin Sprague Plant, he returned to the Concord Sprague Electric Company as Director of Human Resources. In 1998 he retired from Meggitt Avionics in Manchester as Director of Human Resources.

An English major in college, Anders had a lifelong interest in the classics and had an appreciation for music, especially Gilbert and Sullivan. Throughout his life he enjoyed touring foreign countries and visiting places of historic interest. He was a longtime member of the 20th Skeet and Clays in Hooksett, NH. Shooting trap, skeet or sporting clays were weekly activities for him. His other major pastime was motorcycling. He belonged to the Granite State Riders and with his wife traveled throughout much of the Eastern United States and Canada. The Maritime Provinces were favorite places to visit.

He is survived by his wife and two sons: Robert Doore of Hollis, NH and Richard Doore of Pinewood Springs, Colorado and his wife Aomdaun.

There will be no calling hours. The omission of flowers is requested. Burial will be at a later date at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, New Hampshire.
